Modular scale model of the construction process for the SuperLocal project – insight into circular and phased building

For the innovative SuperLocal project by Jongen Bouwpartners, 3D Printing Limburg developed an advanced, modular model that visualizes the entire construction process in a clear, structured, and interactive way. This model was specifically designed to make the complex and circular building process understandable for all stakeholders – from residents and project partners to clients.

Based on 2D drawings and construction plans provided by Jongen Bouwpartners, we created a detailed digital 3D model that served as the basis for the physical scale model. The model is composed of multiple separate segments, which together represent the construction process from start to finish. It is designed to be presented in construction sequence – from foundation, through the structural frame and facades, to the roof. This provides a clear and structured view of the various construction phases and their interconnections.

Each part of the model is carefully designed and equipped with built-in magnets. This clever technique ensures that the segments fit securely and precisely together during presentations, but can also be easily detached and moved. This interactive functionality makes the model visually appealing and highly suitable for communication purposes. It becomes a powerful tool for discussions with stakeholders, resident engagement, and project meetings.

The modular design highlights the circular nature of the SuperLocal project, where material reuse and phased construction are central. The model makes this innovative building method tangible and understandable, helping to build support and strengthen communication around the project.
