We were proud to work with ACM Benelux on the creation of a detailed 3D model of a new, innovative air emission control technology. Whilst technical installations often remain abstract on paper, this model provides a visual and tangible point of reference. The model was developed to make the complex installation understandable to a wide audience, ranging from technical specialists to stakeholders and local residents.

From 2D design to spatial understanding

The basis of this project presented a particular challenge: the internal workings of the installation were not directly relevant to this specific purpose, meaning that no complete 3D source file of the exterior was available. Based on detailed 2D drawings of the exterior, our specialists translated the technical specifications into an accurate digital 3D model. The focus here was on ensuring the correct proportions and the recognisability of the installation, so that the physical model forms a true-to-life representation of reality.

Precision in production and assembly

Advanced 3D printing technology was chosen for production. To ensure the sharp lines and scale of the emission-reducing technology were shown to their best advantage, the model was printed in several high-quality segments. This modular approach enabled us to manufacture each component with maximum precision. Following the printing process, the parts were carefully assembled into a single solid and representative whole, ready for the next phase of the project.

Collaboration and finishing touches

A key feature of this project is the close collaboration with the client. ACM Benelux chose to carry out the final finishing of the model in-house. This offers the unique opportunity to ensure the model corresponds exactly with the original product in terms of colour, branding and texture. During this process, we provided support in the form of technical advice on material properties and post-treatment techniques, enabling the client to achieve a result that seamlessly aligns with their corporate identity and quality standards.

A powerful communication tool

The end result is an impressive model that bridges the gap between complex technology and clear communication. The model now serves as a valuable aid during presentations and discussions, with its physical presence encouraging interaction and a better understanding of ACM Benelux’s innovative solutions.

This project illustrates how, even working from limited source files, we can transform a technical concept into a physical object that captures the imagination. By combining modern 3D printing techniques with the client’s specific expertise, we have created a presentation model that is both informative and representative.
